Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an idea that takes into account broadly understood social interests, care for the natural environment, and building good relationships with various stakeholder groups—local communities, institutions, organizations, and government agencies—already at the stage of shaping a company’s strategy. Thanks to this concept, companies can operate in a more conscious manner, positively influencing the environment in which they operate.

Centrala Zbytu Węgla “Węglozbyt” S.A., part of the Węglokoks Kraj Capital Group, prioritizes responsible business conduct, with particular emphasis on respect for human rights. One of the many examples of social responsibility is the concern for the needs of people with disabilities – the building of the Coal Sales Center “Węglozbyt” S.A. has been adapted to ensure freedom of movement for wheelchair users. The company cares about the rights of its employees, contractors, and consumers, emphasizing an ethical and transparent approach to business in its daily operations.

Charitable activities

Providing assistance in difficult situations is an integral part of our mission. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, and in the face of natural disasters such as floods, we actively supported those in need, cooperating with organizations such as the Polish Red Cross and Caritas Polska.

As a company with strong ties to the coal industry, we focus on supporting associations and organizations operating in the mining and energy sectors. We pay particular attention to mining families who, as a result of personal tragedies, find themselves in difficult financial situations. We are involved in projects that support not only local communities. We support nationwide charity programs aimed at people with disabilities and chronic illnesses, and we support children by providing funding for their education, recreation, and scholarships. We help single-mother homes, orphanages, and hospices, and we support local schools and kindergartens. We also do not forget about our “smaller brothers” and have provided financial assistance to the Animal Care Society.

Commitment to promoting culture and sports

We care about preserving mining heritage by supporting the Józef Słodczyk “Bytom” Mining Brass Band Association, a symbol of mining traditions. For years, the orchestra has represented our region both in Poland and abroad, contributing to the popularization of mining culture. At the same time, we are actively involved in promoting sport, an area that plays a key role in building social bonds and shaping a healthy lifestyle. As a sponsor of the BM Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski Basketball Club and the OSTROVIA Handball Club from Ostrów Wielkopolski, we support the development of local sports teams, helping them achieve success on the national and international stage.
